Tamanu

Starting at: $1.71

Botanical Name: Calophyllum inophyllum
Country of Origin: Vietnam
Extraction Method: Cold Pressed

Description:
I first heard of Calophyllum when I was studying Aromatherapy back in 1998 via Kurt Schnaubelt, and his book on Advanced Aromatherapy.  Only catch was, we couldn't get it in NZ and the large Australian distributors didn't stock it either.

Like Neem, it's not an essential oil, it's an aromatic fatty oil.  However it has properties that can be used as such.  It's main action is its ability to stimulate phagocytosis, which are the cells that run around your body cleaning up the debris of dead cells.  Highly recommended for wounds producing a lot of pus.

When combined in equal parts with Ravensare, it's a very good remedy for shingles and helps clear blisters and reduce the pain.  It also brings relief to chicken pox and dermatitis herpetiformis (this I can personally vouch for).

Combined with Eucalyptus radiata and Eucalyptus globulus it helps clear viral rhinitis.

Because of it's immune modulating and cellular cleansing abilities, it's also a very good oil to add to remedies for skin conditions, especially eczema (both weeping and dry), varicose veins, and bruises.

The aroma is similar to Lovage, green, herby, slightly sharp.

Tamanu Oil is highly recommended as an ingredient in Personal Care Products and can be used for the following:
