euric acid and docosadienoic acid, which provide antioxidant, gliding, moisturising and rejuvenating properties.

Colour:  Is a light golden coloured oil, so light it can appear colourless under some lights.

Aromatic Description:  Meadowfoam seed oil has very little scent characteristic of most carrier oils.

Common Uses:  Meadowfoam oil is mainly used in skin and hair care products.  Its beneficial characteristics include moisturising the skin, preventing loss of colour to hair, rejuvenating and adding shine to hair, UV protection, reduces signs of ageing and wrinkles, creates a moisture barrier by adhering well to the skin and can prevent trans-epidermal water loss.
As a massage oil, a little goes a very long way due to its skin absorption and glide properties.
Has similar properties to silicone so can be used as a natural alternative in formulations that specify silicone-based ingredients.
Can be used as an alternative to Macadamia (nut) and Jojoba oils as it has very similar properties.
Excellent facial moisturiser, however may cause breakouts in individuals with oily skin due to its barrier properties.  On saying this, it is also recommended for acne so this will depend on your skin type.
For hair care it is best applied by adding a couple of drops to your fingertips and applying to your ends, or adding to your conditioner or shampoo at a rate of 1-5% (you will need to experiment with this figure as to what suits your hair type the best).  Is great for defining curls!

Consistency:  Typical and Characteristic of Carrier Oils.

Absorption:  Meadowfoam Oil has a non-greasy feel on the skin and soaks in slowly and easily.

Shelf life:  Meadowfoam Oil is slow to go rancid; users can expect a shelf life of 1-2 Years with proper storage conditions (cool, out of direct sunlight).  Refrigeration after opening is recommended.  Will extend the shelf life of your formulations when blended with oils with a lesser shelf life due to its stability.

Cautions:  No known cautions.
