This soothing chest rub is a gentle and natural alternative to Vicks®, and whilst helping to ease breathing and clearing the airways, it is boosting the immune system due to its essential oil properties. Recommended for snuffly babies too.
- Eucalyptus radiata - the gentlest of the eucalyptus essential oils, it is safe for infants. Best known for its decongestant and expectorant abilities, eucalyptus radiata helps relieve muscular spasms (think of that poor little chest coughing), and is antiviral, so if anyone else is coming down sick apply it sooner rather than later as a preventative.
- Kanuka - has similar properties to Eucalyptus radiata, and eases all types of respiratory infections and can help clear them, so when you don't know what is setting off their cough, this will help ease the discomfort. And it's a beautiful NZ oil that smells divine.
- Manuka - has similar properties and abilities to Kanuka, although not as soft on the senses aromatically. My experience with working with these native NZ essential oils is that they work better together. However, when I first created this blend for my son, the research wasn't available, and the only bottle of Manuka I could find was blended with Kanuka, which is why it was added.
- Spike Lavender - reduces mucous congestion and works as an expectorant in this blend, as well as having the ability to reduce inflammation which helps your baby breathe easier, and reduces feelings of anxiety and panic (which works well for all)
- Amor base cream - to soothe and moisturise baby's sensitive skin, and glides on easily.
