Guar Gum is from the powdered seeds of the Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba plant and is used for thickening and stabilising solutions. More commonly used in gluten-free cooking, it can also be used in thickening your shower gels and shampoos. Guar Gum is not as heavy as Xanthum Gum (which can leave your recipe with a snot-like texture).
This product is easy to use if you add it to your water stage before adding any other ingredients, as it bonds well with essential, fragrant oils, colours and base materials used in skin and hair care. It is also stable over a wide range of pH levels.
Use at 0.4-6% in your formulations, depending on the consistency you desire. You may want to use a stick blender at this stage to make sure it is well blended.
