Description:

This is the low growing perennial that rarely exceeds 9". The plant is extensively grown in central and Eastern Europe. Leaves are lacy and finely divided, on stems capped with small, white daisy like flowers.

Aromatic Description: 

The relaxing aroma of this essential oil, sometimes described as like 'apples and straw' is an exotic and rich scent. It is commonly accepted as the best smelling of the three Chamomiles

Common Uses: 

Lavender treats lung, sinus, and vaginal infections (including candida), and relieves muscle pain, headaches, insect bites, cystitis, and other types of inflammation. 

It is also used for digestive disturbances, including colic, and boosts immunity. 

A skin-cell regenerator, lavender prevents scarring and stretch marks, and has a reputation for slowing wrinkles. It is suitable for all complexion types, as well as for burns, sun damage, wounds, rashes, and skin infections. 

Specific for central-nervous system problems, lavender has been used to help nervousness, exhaustion, insomnia, irritability, depression, and even manic depression.

Cautions: 

No known toxicity. Use well diluted. High doses may trigger skin reactions in sensitive individuals.

History:

This herb has been used for medicinal purposes and skin therapy for a long time, in particular in Europe. German/Blue Chamomile and Roman Chamomile have very similar properties, however the German/Blue oil is better for anti-inflammatory applications, because it has a higher content of Azulene.
