10 acres set in a rural landscape, currently consisting of grazing and a native glade and wetland of cabbage trees, totoras, kahikateas, kauri, pukatea and kowhai with lots of tuis and other native birds.
To this we will add lakes, eco-buildings and extensive gardens, starting with our 1.5 acres of orchard… tropical, stone fruits and everything else (except tamarillos because we really don’t like them!)Access will be via a kayak or rowboat.
Our gardens will have paths through them so you can amble along, browsing as you go at our myriad of varieties… these have been specifically chosen for their medicinal properties.
Our organic vegetable gardens are there to feed us all… that includes you when you come and stay in our cute cottages, all setup for your needs, and then you can be pampered at leisure in our Day Spa… which will operate between the hours of 9am to 9pm daily.
Eventually, we’d like to see a café on our premises too, when the gardens will be open for viewing, and we will be catering to all diets… including allergies and intolerances.
Currently, we NOW have 6 goats grazing away, with more babies on the way… and my Mum's retired old horse (27) and we’ve planted our windbreak of Manukas and Lacebarks above the orchard, as well as a Cabbage tree and Totora in the swamp as it leaves the property for aesthetic balance
.
Next stage is to plant the kanukas when the dam has been constructed for the lakes, 2 elder trees when I can source them and hundreds (or maybe thousands) of flaxes and hebes to keep the possums out!
Update 6th June: This coming week we meet with our architect to start designing our development - I'm so excited!
